The natural resources in the western region are too numerous to list. Some of the natural resources in the west region include the highest mountain ranges found. Mount Whitney 14,505 feet tall! It is the tallest mountain in the United States. This peak is part of the Sierra Nevada

Natural Resources in the West Region

This area is made up of 13 states including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

This area is often referred to as the American West. A mythical culture thrives in the history of the American West. This culture has made the big screen time and time again. Cowboys, a real part of the past, have been mythicised. Our culture has been influenced as a result. This part of the region is known for folklore. The area has a shared history and culture.

This land still has a sparse population. It takes up more than half of the United States. There are basically two areas. It is divided into mountain states and pacific states.

Natural Resources in the West Region

The Government owns alot of the land containing natural resources in the west region. The National parks have been reserved for recreational activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, and boating. Public lands make up between 25 and 75 percent of the land area in these states.

Several rivers run through this land. The Colorado rivers forms the Grand Canyon. Other places have very little water. One of driest places in th United States is Death Valley, California. One of the natural resources in the west region is the deserts.

You can find livestock grazing, mainly beef cattle in the drier areas. Texas is a great place to see cattle and sheep. Most of the country's wheat and soybeans are grown here. Washington is famous for its apples, and Idaho is the potatoe state Many oranges are grown in California and Arizona. Fruits, nuts, and vegetables as well as grain, hay, and flowers are grown in the Southwest.

One of the natural resources in the west region is the Mississippi river. It is considered eastern boundary. The gateway arch in St. Louis marks the beginning of the natural resources in the west region.
