The Wisconsin Dells is in the southern central part of the state. This area is a popular tourist destination. The beauty of the massive rock formations protruding from the calm waters bring people from all over the country.
The Wisconsin Dells is considered by many to be the Waterpark Capital of the world. There are three indoor waterparks and 18 outdoor waterparks to enjoy while sightseeing in the Wisconsin Dells.
Some of the better known water parks and attractions include:

- Mt. Olympus - A great, large water and theme park
- Wisconsin Dells Boat tours - A great way to enjoy the water

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a place to stay. There are several hotels, Camping areas, and resorts to choose from for a great stay at the Wisconsin Dells. Plan a visit, and enjoy the Wisconsin Dells - the beauty is spectacular.
At one point in time, this beautiful landscape was a lumbering community. Over time, tourism began to rise in popularity, and the name was eventually changed from Kilbourn City to Wisconsin Dells. More and more attractions were built to fuel the tourism that was becoming more popular.
The landscape of the Wisconsin Dells is picturesque. Capturing the beauty of the Wisconsin Dells in photographs, H.H. Bennet circulated pictures of the area which attracted more

people. They even began to sell souvenir pictures to sightseers as a memento to help remember the visit. The Bennet studio is now a part of the Wisconsin Historical Society. Pay it a visit if you have the time.
Boat tours are a great way to see the sights. In the late 1800's Boat tours of the Wisconsin Dells were begun by LeRoy Gates. Wooden rowboats were used at first, then later, steamboats were introduced. There are several options available to see this part of the country by water. In the mid 1900's the DUKW arrived in the Wisconsin Dells. Mel Flath was the person that started this trend. He bought one at an auction and began to offer tours. He sold his enterprise to another company, and the Ducks now thrive as a popular attraction in the Wisconsin Dells. If you get the chance to ride the ducks, you will not be disappointed. Covering both land and water, this is a great way to really take in the beauty of the Wisconsin Dells.

If you like waterparks, you can't go wrong in the Wisconsin Dells. Spend a little time at Noahs Ark - one of the eight most popular waterparks anywhere. Some of the first indoor waterparks were built here. When it's cold outside, you can still have a great time at one of the indoor parks. Each one keeps trying to outdo one another and tries to be the biggest. The Kalarai is one of the largest waterparks all under one roof. These are really fun place to take the kids.
For a little more adventure, and to get the adrenaline pumping, ride on of the roller coasters. There are even roller coasters, and water slides at places like Hotel Rome and Mt. Olympus. With so many options of things to do and see, make sure you set aside at least three of four days to really enjoy the Wisconsin Dells.
